This is the last week of classes before Easter break. We will be off of school all next week and the Monday after Easter (April 5). The week we come back is the state testing. It is only odd grades for the testing, so 6th graders will have their regular schedule of classes and tests, but the 5th graders will only have small (mostly in class) assignments outside of the testing.
Both grades got math worksheets to prepare for tomorrow's test. What they did not finish on the worksheets is homework.
Both grades also got their science study guides today. The majority of both grades finished in class, but if they did not it is homework.
We began the heritage studies lesson today and will work on the study guide tomorrow.
Hope Extreme is having their annual Easter Egg Hunt soon. The students at HCS are being asked to help by donating bags of individually wrapped candy (no chocolate), toys, trinkets, and books. If the student is not able to buy the things this week, Mrs. Pat Carlos is taking money donations to buy bags of candy with the money. The donations must be in by Friday.

We've covered our math lessons for the week and will do our usual practice worksheets Monday. The 6th graders have a couple of simple formulas to remember for finding area. 5th graders have to remember the formula for finding degrees Fahrenheit from degrees Celsius.
The heritage studies tests were today. We will begin our new lessons Monday.

Today the students got their test folders. Again, the math grades were good. 6th grade got all A's and B's on their heritage studies test, too.
We began new lessons in both grades for math and it seems like they understand and are doing well. The 5th graders will have some formulas to memorize in order to change from Celsius to Fahrenheit, etc. but it is not hard. The 6th graders will also have to memorize the formulas for finding the area of some shapes.
The science test is tomorrow. 5th grade did a comprehension check in class as practice. The 6th graders' information is a little simpler because a big portion of their definitions goes to the planets in the solar system.
Both grades have the complete study guide with correct answers for heritage studies. That test will be Friday.

Test folders went home today. For both grades, the math tests were a lot better than last week's. 40% of 6th grade and almost 45% of 5th grade got an A, so it will really help the averages.
There was a math test today. We will begin new lessons tomorrow. 5th grade needs to bring a ruler for this week's lessons. A protractor or anything that shows measurements in inches will work.
Both grades got their heritage studies study guide today and most completed it in class. What they did not finish is for homework.

The science vocabulary the students got Friday was not as much as usual. A lot of the study guide, especially for 5th grade is regular questions. Both grades had time to work on it in class, but what they did not finish is homework. We will go over the study guide tomorrow so they know exactly all the information they need for Thursday's test.
We read the material for heritage studies today but did not do work for it yet. They will get the study guides tomorrow and will have enough time to complete them in class if they take advantage of that time. Both grades are only covering a couple of pages, but it is still a full study guide and test.
The math tests are tomorrow. 6th grade covered geometric names and shapes and how to measure distances using the scale on a map. The majority of their test in knowing the definitions for geometry. They made notecards for some of them last week, but have known since Thursday that they would need to know the definitions and the picture of each shape. They got worksheets with the definitions of everything they will need to know and examples of things they may have to do on the test. 5th grade learned line graphs and how to plot points on a graph or grid. They spent all day Friday practicing and also today with worksheets.
